Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin

For Dark Hardwoods and Exotic Woods
Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin is a clear, satin hardwax-oil finish specially formulated for dense hardwoods, exotic species, and oily woods rich in extractives. Its extra-thin viscosity allows the oil to penetrate deeply into the wood, enhancing natural colour and grain while delivering long-lasting, breathable protection that won’t crack, flake, peel, or blister over time.
This deep-absorbing finish is highly water and dirt-resistant, making it particularly well suited for high-moisture rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, and pool areas or flooring and children’s toys. The microporous structure allows wood to breathe naturally while protecting against everyday moisture, spills, and stains.
Recommended for: Wet rooms (kitchens, baths, swimming pools etc.) floors, furniture, wall and ceiling panelling, and children’s toys and specifically hardwoods, oily wood and exotic wood rich in extractives, such as Oak, Walnut, Meranti, Wenge, Merbau etc.

Why Extra Thin Matters for Exotic and Oily Woods

Note: The colour shades shown are a true likeness of the original, after application onto Oak. However, some variation may occur due to screen brightness and uploading processes. It is advisable to test colours on a small sample, as colour may appear differently on other wood species.
Choosing the right application tool
Different species of wood require different amounts of product to achieve the highest durability and stain resistance. This is especially important for finishing high-traffic areas like flooring, stairs, countertops, and cutting boards.

Before applying any Osmo finish, proper sanding is essential. For step-by-step guidance and expert tips on preparing flooring, furniture, and exterior wood, visit our Sanding Preparation page.
Stir the finish well prior to use.
- Using the Osmo Microfiber Microfibre Roller, Osmo Natural Bristle Brush or a lint-free cloth, work product thinly and evenly into the wood in the direction of the wood grain.
- Allow 30 mins for the product to absorb into the wood grain (ensure the space is well ventilated) and then remove excess oil from the surface using a clean lint-free cloth
- Clean brushes with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (benzene-free) or Mineral Spirits
- Allow 12 hours drying time under normal climatic conditions for Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin to fully dry
Recommended number of coats: one coat for furniture / two coats for flooring.
Top Coat Optional: For a high-sheen effect and extra durability, you can apply one coat of Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin as a base coat, and use Polyx®-Oil or LED Smart Oil for the second coat.
Different applicators will provide different results in regard to colour and the number of coats needed. For the highest durability and stain resistance, we recommend applying approx 60g/m² total coverage.
Microfibre Roller = Applies 30g/m² per coat – fastest application. 2 coats recommended.
Flat Brush = Applies 20g/m² per coat – best for textured surfaces and colour. 2-3 coats recommended.
Oil Applicator Fleece = Applies 15g/m² per coat – user-friendly, small build, medium colour intensity. 3 coats recommended.
White Superpad = Applies 10g/m² per coat – minimalistic finish, lower product waste, can be buffed to high luster. Not recommended for high-wear surfaces.
Cloth = Applies 5g/m² per coat – minimalistic finish and creates subtle colours. Not recommended for high-wear surfaces.
