Osmo finishes are not classed as a stain, or a lacquer and as such are not subject to the same VOC requirements set out by Environment Canada for wood stain. Hardwax-Oil and Softwax-Oil are classed as “Conjugated Oil Varnishes” whereby the VOC content concentration limit is 450 g/L. This higher allowance is due to the fact our products are made from renewable, natural vegetable oils and waxes as opposed to solely man-made chemicals.
