MORE THAN 140 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

The company was founded as trader of wood and building materials in 1878, in 1923 a modern planning mill was built, and already in 1964 the company segment for wood finishes was founded. So, the material wood and its treatment and processing have accompanied Osmo for many decades.

Osmo has about 280 employees at its headquarters in Warendorf and at both production sites in Warendorf and Münster.

Alone in Germany, you can find Osmo products at more than 2,500 dealers. Beyond that, Osmo also exports to several countries worldwide.

With everything from the popular Polyx®-Oil, the original Hardwax-Oil, to the beautifully constructed flooring and decking, garden buildings, pre-finished natural timber claddings, screens and fences, Osmo is the wood product specialist.

Osmo offers a natural and environmentally friendly alternative to wood finishing. The products are based on rapidly renewable, natural vegetable oils that penetrate deeply into the wood, keeping it elastic and healthy, whilst preventing it from drying and becoming brittle. The wood is allowed to breathe which means it is naturally protected, moisture can evaporate whilst the surface is very water resistant, water tightly beads on the surface which can be simply wiped off – and for exterior wood the rain will evaporate naturally, meaning little or no maintenance is required.

The natural treatment of wood is not only for protection, but the aesthetic point of view is essential. Osmo’s natural wood finishes offer a wide variety of interior and exterior products, it is possible to create an almost infinite variation of naturally occurring shades or bright, vivid colors. If you want to enhance the grain showing a gorgeous, natural colour tone or whether you prefer to keep the natural, raw appearance of the wood – or just looking for a comfortable, durable surface that adapts to the demands of life, Osmo has the product just for you!

Because the range is not produced for the mass market, more time can be spent on ensuring all the products are of the highest quality. All produced in Germany – the home of perfection – you can be guaranteed the products will not disappoint.

COLOUR THAT PROTECTS

Only a microporous finish can preserve the natural beauty and durability of wood. Osmo is considered one of the pioneers of modern wood finishing systems based on oils and waxes.

CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

The foundation of Osmo wood finishes has been based upon purified and refined natural resources through the last 30 years.

The dry finish fulfils both the DIN EN 71.3 (suitable for children’s toys) and DIN 53160 (fast to perspiration and saliva) and as such is safe for humans, animals and plants. Osmo uses carefully harvested natural oils (sunflower, soya, linseed and thistle oils) and hard waxes (carnauba and candelilla waxes) for it’s finishes.

The inorganic pigments used for Osmo Color are created from natural ores, these are cleaned and refined until a level of physiological purity has been achieved and only a pure mineral element remains. Osmo has been working for many years with ‘High Solid Products’ which contain only a small amount of solvents. For years now Osmo has also been working to develop products which are completely free from solvents (VOC’s), as a result of this research the Osmo ‘Full Solid’ range of products was launched, Osmo is still striving to develop this technology further for years to come.

Products are in accordance with, and certified to, relevant VOC-regulations as per DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 (Quality management systems) and 14001 (environmental management systems) demonstration that Osmo, as a responsible manufacturer of wood and wood finishes, is committed to developing itself and it’s products to meet both the ecological and economic challenges which are faced in modern times. Due to the low amounts of solvents used in our products, the Osmo production facility has not been bound by the German emissions law since 1998, in addition to this technical systems are also encapsulated to ensure that very little emissions can enter the atmosphere.
